“ANTIFRAGILE” (2023/2025), for large orchestra

“ANTIFRAGILE” is my first work for large orchestra and, as the title suggests, it originates from the book “Antifragile: Things that Gain from Disorder” of Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

Antifragility describes systems that improve thanks to disorder and stress, going beyond the simple ability to withstand shocks.

This property emerges from controlled exposure to volatility: disturbances do not damage the system, but stimulate its evolution and strengthening.

Overly protected systems, in fact, become fragile because they are deprived of the stimuli necessary to adapt. Taleb links this concept to his theory of “Black Swans,” rare and unpredictable events with a high impact: while fragile systems collapse in the face of these events, antifragile ones benefit from them.
The principle applies across music, technology, biology, and personal life, redefining how we manage risk and uncertainty.

Originally composed in 2023, “ANTIFRAGILE” underwent an organic revision in 2025.

Listening with headphones or through a sound system is recommend.
